I spoke tonight in Cardston in a fireside that was sponsored by two Cardston stakes on the topic "a crisis of faith. I focused on the three sets of witnesses to the Book of Mormon, and took questions for 30 minutes after. Thus, I hope I addressed what the two stake presidents wanted me to address.

I first called attention to Brian Stubbs’s claim in an article in the Deseret News back in 2017, in which I also provided links to two favorable reviews written by Latter-day Saint scholars who also happen to be superbly trained and highly reputable academic specialists on Amerindian languages.

I had misunderstood. I had been expecting to speak in a stake center in Lethbridge. Instead, I spoke from behind a tree-stump lectern out under the trees and the open sky. Unable to use my prepared slides, I ad libbed a very different talk than I had planned.And I liked it.
